Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) spent INR 11.5 crores to buy West Indian pacer Alzarri Joseph. The talented pacer was released by Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL 2024 auctions. The WI pacer seemed to be in huge demand in the auction, as a lot of teams bid for him in the arena. CSK and LSG were involved in a tough battle initially and raised his value.
Both the teams needed an overseas pacer in their lineup. Joseph was in demand for his wicket-taking abilities. The tall pacer has the ability to seam the ball and has a genuine outswinger. The West Indies pacer was very good for Gujarat Titans in the last two seasons. Seeing his performance in recent years, teams were willing to pay him a lot of money in the auction.
The bidding war continued between CSK and Lucknow Super Giants. The South Indian franchise quit the race after they found it a tad too high at one point. That was when RCB joined the bidding war and challenged LSG to the fullest. The two franchises fought hard to get the tall pacer in their squad. There seemed to be no limit to their approach in getting the player at one point.
Alazarri Joseph finds a new home
LSG seemed like they wanted him badly. They were nearly going to get him at the cost of their entire purse. But RCB turned out to be more adamant in getting the WI pacer. Joseph was bought for a huge price of INR 11.5 crores. He finds a new home as RCB got him in the auction. The challenging part would be to perform at M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, which is known to be a graveyard for the bowlers.
RCB might have actually gone behind Joseph by his terrific yorker and bouncers. In the death overs, Joseph would be very handy for RCB. In the middle overs, he can be good with his seam bowling. The express pacer can operate at a good speed and be effective in the middle overs phase with his bouncers and wicket-taking abilities.
