The Australia Open is almost coming to an end with the quarter-finals almost done, there will be only 4 people in the race to win the title. The moment is close for all the players, who will want this Grand Slam victory under their name. This is one of the most popular tournaments in Tennis that will be enjoyed and watched by every Tennis fan in the world. The competition will be tough with players looking hungry for the important win and getting their hands on the prize. This will surely be a tournament to watch out for once again.
Though there is a lot of talk about Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic who are some of the biggest stars in the tournament, we must not forget one of the underrated and upcoming stars Daniil Medvedev as well. He is currently the world number 3 in the ATP rankings and has been playing some great Tennis so far. He has already made it to two Australian Open finals and will want to finally get his hands on his 2nd Grand slam. There has hardly been a tournament where the 27- 27-year-old Russian has never made it to the final four.
Medvedev reaches 7th major semi-final
Medvedev has shown his worth in the concluded quarter-final against Hubert Hurkacz who himself is a very competitive player. This was a great match between the two which went on for almost 4 hours of great shots and rallies. After winning the 1st set in an intense tiebreaker, Medvedev had given away the 2nd set with the score of 2-6. He finally came back winning the third set 6-3 with just one set to win. However, the Polish powerhouse came back at him winning the next set 5-7 making it a great and intense contest. In the end, it was Medvedev who had the last laugh winning the final set 6-4 and reaching his 7th major Semi-final.
Due to this great performance, Medvedev will be up against either Carlos Alcaraz or Alexander Zverev who will be as tough as a competitor for him. There will be some fans who will want him to beat the odds and win this all-important Grand Slam which has been eluding him for a long time. We all know how talented Medvedev is, but we also want to see him win another major tournament which he has done back in 2021 winning the US Open. The Russian looks hungry to win more games under his belt and it will be great to see him in action against the best players right now.
