The Test series between India and South Africa has started at the Super Sport Park at Centurion. The people were hoping for India to be at their best but unfortunately, it is the Proteas who have had the upper hand. The Indian batters have struggled against the South African pace attack led by Kagiso Rabada as they have left the visitors stranded at 176-7 at the end of the Tea session. Rabada was no doubt the pick of the bowlers after taking a five-wicket haul and was the architect behind the Indian batting collapse, which made a very difficult recovery for the Indians.
Rabada has been one of the best pacers for South Africa, known for his ability to bowl over 140 k’s and his smooth-flowing action. With this fifer, he has now got to 500 wickets in international cricket and is now one of the top 10 wicket-takers for South Africa. With 285 wickets in Tests, he also made the top 10 in the Test matches as well just behind South African legend Jacques Kallis. He is set to become one of the goats of South Africa being amongst one of the best pacers right now.
500 wickets and how it happened?
Rabada has been looking threatening since the start of the day and his wickets are an example of how he was looking at his best with the ball in hand. The first wicket was none other than India skipper Rohit Sharma where he set the batter up for a pull shot and got him caught at fine leg. His next victim was Shreyas Iyer where the ball jagged back in and stayed low demolishing the stumps. The third victim was Virat Kohli himself who was once again trapped outside off-stump edging the ball straight to the keeper. Next was Ravichandran Ashwin who was beaten for pace and bounce and was caught at 3rd slip and the 5th and final wicket was Shardul Thakur who slashed it straight to mid-off. With that Rabada completed his magic 500 in international cricket.
This performance showed fans and people that Rabada is not only pacey but also a very clever bowler, who used the conditions and variations well. This performance also showed why he is one of the most dangerous pacers in cricket right now and how he can easily set up batters with both new and old balls. He is only 28 years old with a lot of cricket left in him and it won’t be a surprise that he might be competing with the greats as well.
Here's how the fans have reacted:
