The Pakistan Cricket Team are slated to play their first game of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 against India on Sunday. Ahead of the game, the team dealt with a major blow as Shan Masood was hit on his head during a training session in Melbourne.

Reportedly, Mohammad Nawaz hit the ball on Nawaz’s head while he was batting in the nets. After being hit, the Pakistan batter immediately fell on the ground. The medical team gave him treatment on the field before he was taken to the hospital.

The fans would hope that the injury isn’t too serious and he would get fit for the game on Sunday. Masood has made 12 T20I appearances for Pakistan and has scored 220 runs at an average of 22.2.

In the warm-up match against England, Masood opened the innings for Pakistan and played a handy knock of 39 runs in 22 balls at a strike rate of 177.27. His knock was laced with as many as 7 fours.

The unfortunate injury has come just a couple of days prior to the start of the much-anticipated encounter against India. To their respite, pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi has been deemed fit and looked good in the two warm-up matches. In the last warm-up match against Afghanistan, the Pakistan seamer returned with figures of 2 for 29 in 4 overs.

The match, however, was called off due to rain. Pakistan’s first warm-up match against England resulted in a 6-wicket defeat. Pakistan had scored 160 runs in 19 overs in that match but England took just 14.4 overs to chase it down. Both Babar Azam and M Rizwan rested in that game but the duo is expected to open the innings for the team in the first match against India.
