SA20 is just into its 2nd edition and in just a short period it has made clear that it’s here to stay as it is quickly coming across as a tournament that is a mix of some of the best T20 players of the world along with some of the exceptional young talents of the world.

After a successful first edition, SA20 is back and in the initial three days only, it has provided some enthralling contests. In the 5th fixture of the tournament, Durban Super Giants (DSG) locked horns with the Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC), and in a mouth-watering contest, DSG overpowered the defending champions by 35 runs.

DSG’s captain Keshav Maharaj won the toss and didn’t hesitate to bat on a belter of a track. Both the DSG openers proved the decision right by providing a flyer and took them to 50 runs in just 5 overs. But it was just the start of carnage as Jon Jon Smuts (75) and Nicholas Pooran (60) capitalized on the start and took the final DSG to a final total of 225 runs.

SEC succumbed despite Abell and Stubb’s heroics

In response to a mammoth total target of 225 runs, SEC openers fell cheaply, Tom Abell (65) and Tristian Stubbs (55) provided some fireworks for the SEC in the middle over but it was never enough in front of a steep target as they eventually fell short by 35 runs. JJ Smuts and Richard Gleeson were the pick of the bowlers as they picked 2 wickets each and never let SEC come into the game.

It was a high-scoring thriller with sixes galore that kept the fans on the edge of their seats throughout the match. The fans took to X, formerly Twitter to express their views on the game. Here are some of the tweets from the fans:
