Star Indian batter Rishabh Pant is likely to come back a sensational comeback in the India squad ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup in India later in the year. The 25-year-old is sharing regular updates about his recovery on his social media and seems to be back in cricketing action ahead of the Marquee event.
The wicketkeeper batter recently broke the internet with his latest post on Instagram where he can be seen climbing the stairs on his own without any support. He shared the post with a caption, “Not bad yaar Rishabh. Simple things can be difficult sometimes.” His post created hype among the fans and they are hoping for him to recover soon and play for India.
It is noted that Pant met with a horrific car accident in December 2022, which ruled him out of cricketing action. Pant went on to miss the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and then the entire season of IPL 2023. The 25-year-old had to undergo a ligament surgery and after that, he is residing at the NCA and working his way to recover fully to make a comeback in competitive cricket.
Rishabh Pant's speedy recovery surprised Indian Cricket Board
According to the reports by ESPN Cricinfo, the Indian Cricket Board is trying to get Pant fully fit before the World Cup in India. However, the wicketkeeper batter is recording faster than expected which has surprised both Indian Cricket Board and NCA staff. Earlier, he was expected to miss the entire 2023 due to injury but now it is looking like that he can be seen playing for India in the big tournament ahead.
Pant is working on elevating his lower-body and upper-body mobility exercises under the guidance of physio S Rajnikanth, who has collaborated with multiple Indian age-group teams in the past. Rajnikant has also worked with Delhi Capitals and has guided players like Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Murali Vijay when they were undergoing rehabilitation. Along with him Thulasi Ram Yuvaraj, who is a physio at the NCA, is also monitoring the recovery of the Indian batter after he was airlifted to Mumbai.
