Sunday’s IPL fixture at the Narendra Modi Stadium will see the Pandya brothers, Hardik and Krunal, come face to face for the first time as captains of their respective teams. Gujarat Titans, led by Hardik, sit comfortably atop the points table, having won four of their first six games. In contrast, Krunal's Lucknow Super Giants have stumbled mid-season and come into the game on the back of a loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore and a washed-out fixture against Chennai Super Kings.

Despite their recent form, LSG may take heart from the fact that all three of Titans’ losses this season have come at home. However, Titans’ solid bowling unit, spearheaded by Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan, will make it tough for LSG. The duo shares the highest wicket-taker spot with 18 scalps each. Titans’ reliance on Rashid and Noor Ahmad for breakthroughs is expected to continue.

LSG's batters have been inconsistent this season, and without their captain KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock may finally make it to the playing XI. However, it remains to be seen whether Karun Nair gets a game. With Jaydev Unadkat ruled out and Mark Wood yet to recover, the onus will again be on spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra.

Expectations will be high on Titans’ Rashid, who is in form and in charge of spin. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha, and Hardik will aim to keep the momentum going after returning to form in the last outing. Titans’ solid bowling unit and the absence of Rahul will make it tough for LSG, who have never beaten Titans in the IPL.
