In the ODI World Cup 2023, New Zealand's Trent Boult showcased remarkable fielding prowess with a spectacular juggling catch to dismiss Bas de Leede. Following a stellar batting performance, the Kiwis set a formidable total of 324 runs against the Netherlands in Hyderabad. However, the Dutch struggled early on, losing wickets at regular intervals.

To revive their innings, Bas de Leede partnered with Colin Ackermann at a score of 43. Despite facing an attack from Dutch all-rounder Leede in the 17th over, Boult positioned himself expertly at the boundary. The star New Zealand bowler also executed a perfectly judged catch with a reverse cup, ensuring awareness of the boundary rope. Falling back, Boult tossed the ball back into play before quickly moving forward to complete a stunning catch, showcasing exceptional athleticism and cricketing acumen.

After this catch there were speculations were made about the rule related to claiming the catch by a New Zealand speedster. Some experts said that as per the rule while claiming the catch after coming in from the boundary line, the player should be touching the feet.

New Zealand set a target of 323 runs

After winning the toss, Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards opted to bowl and saw a strong start as New Zealand faced three maiden overs initially. However, the Kiwi batters gradually found their rhythm and dominated the run-scoring. The opening pair of Devon Conway and Will Young formed an impressive 67-run partnership for the first wicket.

Following Conway's dismissal, Rachin Ravindra and Young continued the momentum with a noteworthy 77-run partnership. The match featured a compelling battle between bat and ball, with the Dutch bowlers striking back during partnerships. Key contributors for New Zealand were top and middle-order batsmen, including star all-rounder Daryl Mitchell (48) and Tom Latham (53). The finishing touches were added by Mitchell Santner (21), who smashed 21 runs in the final over. The Netherlands team also started steadily but the target is turning out to be a mountain climb as they are staggering at 163/5 in 33.4 overs.
