‘Africa ka jalwa’ – Fans react to South Africa’s massive 149-run win vs Bangladesh in ODI World Cup 2023

South Africa reached the second place in the points table after their thumping 149-run win over Bangladesh on Monday in Mumbai in ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.

The South African team outplayed their opponent Bangladesh to win by a huge 149-run margin. Quinton De Kock was the star with the bat as he scored 174 runs to help his team post a huge 382 on the board. With the virtue of this win South Africa is now 2nd in the points table.

Shakib AL Hasan was back in the XI for the Bangladeshi team replacing Towhid Hridoy. The 36-year-old wasn’t absent during his team’s last game in Pune versus India. Lizaad Williams came in for Lungi Ngidi who wasn’t fit to make it to the team.

Temba Bavuma was still absent so Aiden Markram continued to lead the side. The toss went the way of South Africa who had no hesitation in batting first. Mumbai had already seen South Africa beat England by 229 runs after scoring 399 in their last game.

South Africa outplay Bangladesh to win their 4th game –

Chasing 383 to win, Bangladesh lost opener Tanzid Shakib Hasan for 12 caught by Klassen off Jansen. The very next ball the wicket-keeper and bowler duo stuck again to remove Nazmul Shanto for a first-ball duck. Lizaad Williams then got his first ODI World Cup 2023 wicket when he had Shakib Al Hasan caught by Klassen for 1.

Mushfiqur Rahim was the next to when he was caught for 8 to give Gerald Coetzee his first wicket. Litton Das struggled during his 44-ball 22-run knock which was ended by Kagiso Rabada who trapped him LBW. Bangladesh then lost Mehidy Hasan Miraz (11) and Nasum Ahmed (19) to be placed at 159 for 8.

Mahmudullah then came to the rescue as he scored 111 runs off 111 balls with 11 fours and 4 sixes. The veteran batted and added 68 runs for the 9 wickets with Mustafizur Rahman. The end came when Coetzee got Mahmudullah out and Williams had Mustafizur caught by Miller for 11. 

Earlier in the day Quinton De Kock scored 174 runs from 140 balls with 15 fours and 7 sixes. This was his third century during the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign and his 21st ODI century.

Aiden Markram contributed with 60, while Heinrich Klassen scored 49-ball 90 runs. David Miller 34 not out off 15 balls helped the South Africans post a massive 382 on the board,
