The Indian cricket team on Sunday won their fifth game of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. Team India beat New Zealand by four wickets in Dharamshala to go top of the points table. Shreyas Iyer was the player who won the medal for his outstanding catch to dismiss Devon Conway.

The Indian cricket team and its backroom staff have come up with a novel way to keep the spirits high. After every game one player who has done well in the field gets a medal. The medal is presented to the player by his teammate who had won it in the last game.

There is a long rest for the men in blue after their game yesterday. The next game for the Indian team is on the 29th of October in Lucknow. This will be the 6th game for the team against the struggling defending World Champions England

Rohit Sharma gives heartfelt reaction to Shreyas Iyer’s medal 

The entire Indian team had come out to the ground at the end of the game in Dharamshala on Sunday. The team bonding exercise saw the spider camera bring the price down for the best fielder award.

Rohit Sharma can be seen with a childlike glee on his face as he jumped to fetch the medal. The entire team can be heard cheering and hugging Shreyas Iyer who had a smile on his face.

New Zealand was asked to bat after Rohit Sharma had won the toss. Mohammad Siraj saw Devon Conway drive uppishly as Iyer completed a diving catch to dismiss the Kiwi for zero. Moments after taking the catch, Iyer was seen gesticulating the medal to the fielding coach.

Daryl Mitchell scored 130 runs which was his fifth ODI century against the famed Indian attack. He was well supported by Rachin Ravindra who scored 75 runs from 87 balls. both the batters were dismissed by Mohammed Shami.

The 33-year-old Indian pacer made a comeback to the side after missing the initial four games of the tournament. On Sunday, Mohammed Shami picked his 3rd ODI fifer to end with figures of 5/54 from his ten overs.

Chasing 274 to win, Virat Kohli led the chase with the bat as he scored 95 runs from 104 balls. The former India skipper was out-caught when he attempted to go for a big hit to reach his 49th ODI ton. Rohit Sharma with 46 and Ravindra Jadeja with 39 not out were the other leading scorers for India.
