The ODI World Cup 2023 is set for one of its most eagerly awaited matchups as Team India, following their commanding victory over Afghanistan, prepares to confront Pakistan led by Babar Azam at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14.

As the match approaches, all eyes will be on star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who is making a return to his hometown of Ahmedabad. In anticipation of the clash against Pakistan, Bumrah emphasized that meeting his family and his mother takes precedence over the upcoming game. Although Bumrah hasn't played an ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium, drawing from his experience in Test cricket at the venue, the 29-year-old expects an electrifying atmosphere.

"I've been away for a while now. I'll be happy to see my mother at home. I'm going to see her. That's the first basic thing for me. I have not played a one-dayer there, but I have played a test match. The atmosphere is going to be exciting. I'm sure a lot of people are going to come. So, it will be a sight to see. So yeah, hoping for the best over there,” Jasprit Bumrah was quoted as saying by NDTV.

India will be taking on Pakistan on October 14

The Indian team has showcased sensational form in the ongoing World Cup 2023, securing victories in both of their initial matches against Australia and Afghanistan. Despite a shaky start in the run chase against Australia, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli played crucial roles in ensuring victory. Additionally, Rohit Sharma's impressive century and Kohli's resilience contributed to back-to-back wins against Afghanistan.

With an impending clash against Pakistan on the horizon, it will be intriguing to observe how India performs against their arch-rivals, especially with the support of passionate fans in the grand cricket stadium, promising a spectacle of a game. India and Pakistan had two encounters last month in the Asia Cup.

The first match in Pallekele concluded as a washout after only one innings, while the second meeting in Colombo witnessed India dominating with a significant 228-run victory. Notably, the Pakistan cricket team has never won against India in the history of 50-over World Cups. In the seven World Cup matches between the two teams, India has emerged victorious on all seven occasions.
