Matthew Mott who is the coach of the England cricket team, has confirmed that Jofra Archer will not be in the selection mix following the injury to Reece Topley, which has ruled him out of the remainder of England's ODI World Cup campaign. Topley sustained an injury during the England-South Africa match in Mumbai when he was hit by a powerful drive from Rassie van der Dussen, which caused a cut to his finger while attempting to stop the ball. Despite the injury, Topley returned to the field and managed to take two more wickets. However, he was not required to bat in the match, which ended in a crushing 229-run loss for the defending champions.

Matthew Mott also mentioned that Topley would not be part of the upcoming matches in the World Cup. The England team management is taking a measured approach to announcing Topley's replacement and will make a decision based on how the team's upcoming fixtures unfold. The focus is on identifying the right player to be the 'X' factor for the team as the tournament progresses.

"We'll have to look at the upcoming games. If there is an X-factor player we can look at - that's why we're very keen not to name the replacements and reserves, and it leaves an open mind for what we're going to go with. I thought Reece Topley going back out to bowl with a broken finger showed great spirit. We're still waiting on that, but it's very much looking like it's a crack. Certainly, that's the early diagnosis, but we'll find out properly with X-rays,” the coach of the England team told Sky Sports.

Jofra Archer is not available for selection

The coach of England's national cricket side also further confirmed that Archer will not play a game at the end of the ongoing tournament. In addition, it is also to be considered that Jofra Archer has been travelling with the team and at the same time is also doing his rehab. "Jof is not going to be considered for selection. He's come out, he's reported to the medical staff, but he's not going to be able to play a part in the end of this campaign,” he added.
