A total of 590 players have made the list for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) Auctions 2024. Dubai is the venue for the mega event as ten teams sit down to pick players they need on the 19th of December.
On 26th November, a massive number of players were released and retained ahead of the auctions. There were a few trades that were conducted as Cameron Green and Hardik Pandya hogged all the headlines.
In this list let us take a closer look at the five big players who were released that will find themselves playing for new teams
Kartik Tyagi – Lucknow Super Giants
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) inexplicably decided to release Kartik Tyagi on Sunday. Tyagi plays for Uttar Pradesh in the Indian domestic circuit. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) could very well be tempted to bring the youngster back home and solidify their bowling arsenal.
Dasun Shanaka – Sunrisers Hyderabad
During the IPL 2023 season, SRH missed out on a proper finisher. Dasun Shanaka could very well fill the role as the Sri Lankan has the experience of playing that role for his national side. The 32-year-old is also a good captaincy option having led Sri Lanka to the 2022 Asia Cup title in the T20 format.
Sarfaraz Khan – Mumbai Indians
If Mumbai Indians are looking for a local talent who can be a solid middle-order option they can go for Sarfaraz Khan. The 26-year-old made an amazing IPL debut way back in 2015 but hasn’t really lived up to the billing in recent times. During the IPL 2023 season, Mumbai Indians batting was exposed with a weak lower middle-order, Sarfaraz could certainly address the issue for Rohit Sharma and his team.
Wanindu Hasaranga – Delhi Capitals
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) stunned their fans with the release of star player Wanindu Hasaranga. Delhi Capitals (DC) could very well make a play for the Sri Lankan star and help form a dangerous partnership with Kuldeep Yadav. The abrasive surface at the Arun Jaitley Stadium could also play a huge role where Hasaranga could turn out to be a handful for the opposition batters.
Harshal Patel – Chennai Super Kings
There is no better team than Chennai Super Kings that could suit the 33-year-old Harshal Patel. After an outstanding 2021 IPL with RCB, the next two seasons were moderate as far as the wily pacer from Haryana is concerned. The slow surfaces in Chennai will give Harshal Patel a huge platform considering MS Dhoni will want to use him in the Dwayne Bravo role.
