Caribbean Premier League 2022 has turned out to be a balance between low-scoring games and high-scoring ones. But one has to agree that match 23 between Saint Lucia Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders turned out to be the game of the tournament.

Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad hosted the match and the Knight Riders’ skipper Kieron Pollard won the toss and elected to field first. Saint Lucia Kings got off to a disappointing start as Faf du Plessis crumbled for just two runs. Akeal Hosein produced magic up front as he came up with eleven dots in the powerplay.

However, Johnson Charles managed to pull the team out of the nightmare and gave a high finish to the powerplay as the team ended at 51-1. The aggressive batter carried on with his innings throughout the middle overs and bagged a crucial half-century to his name.

David Wiese, the Namibian star, gave Saint Lucia Kings the much-needed finish as the team ended up on 147 for the loss of six wickets.

Saint Lucia Kings clinch a last-ball thriller

The chase from Trinbago Knight Riders turned out to be a great one as it stood on par with Saint Lucia Kings’ first innings. Despite losing three wickets in the powerplay, Kieron Pollard ensured that the team stayed alive in the chase with his maximums.

The West Indian legend carried on until Alzarri Joseph provided the breakthrough for Saint Lucia Kings by dismissing him. The match looked like it could go either way as wickets and boundaries kept coming at the same time.

With twenty-two requiring off the last over, the Kings clinched the match by one run despite conceding two maximums and a boundary in the over. It turned out to be a heart-breaker for Andre Russell, who gave it all till the end of the match.

Faf du Plessis and co would look to carry on with the momentum and make it to the next round. Trinbago Knight Riders, on the other hand, will have to do a lot of homework to get things back on track,
