England and Punjab player, Jonny Bairstow is set to miss out on the Indian T20 League 2023. He has been injured since September last year. Ahead of the third Test against South Africa, Bairstow got injured on a golf course. Ever since the right-hander has missed a lot of cricket in the last few months. He was replaced by Alex Hales for the 20-20 World Cup 2022.
Since the tournament, Hales has been playing for the Three Lions in T20Is. Not to forget, he made his comeback after 2019. Meanwhile, Bairstow, who was part of the 2019 ODI World Cup winning side, started running sessions a while ago. It was assumed that the Yorkshire player will make his return in the game during the upcoming Indian T20 League for Punjab.
The franchise management and the ECB were in talks about his availability. However, in the fresh reports from The Guardian, Jonny is looking to make his comeback in the national side for the Ashes 2023. It is said that the 33-year-old will play for his county side, Yorkshire in red-ball cricket instead of playing the biggest T20 League at the halfway stage.
Punjab is yet to name Jonny Bairstow's replacement
On the other hand, the 2014 finalists are yet to find a replacement. At this point, the team has two wicketkeeping options, one is Jitesh Sharma and another one is Sri Lanka international, Bhanuka Rajapaksa. Meanwhile, the team might seek Bairstow's replacement.
On the other hand, England's Test team's head coach, Brendon McCullum has confirmed Bairstow's return to the team. The latter was replaced by Harry Brook, who has hit four hundred so far. Also, Brook will be playing for Hyderabad this year. He will participate in the 16th season, unlike Bairstow who is reportedly looking to return for the Ashes 2023. The series will part of the next Test Championship cycle (2023-2025). It will start in mid-June this year, after the 2023 Test Championship final between India and Australia.

If you ask me. Punjab is the team that has no core.

Cricket is a team game but they rely more on individual brilliance. That's why Curran was bought in 18 cr.
Same thing was with Delhi as well but with ponting at the helm. He strengthened the core and then built the team.
They now have only 6 overseas players (3 batters, 2 bowlers & 1 all-rounder)
