In just 9 days the eyes of the cricketing world will be glued to India. New Zealand and England kick off the 2023 ODI World Cup with the first game. The match will be played in Ahmedabad on 5th October.

The Indian fans will watch their favourite stars open their campaign in Chennai. Rohit Sharma and his team will face off against five-time champions Australia. The biggest takeaway from Irfan Pathan’s tweet is the omission of one big team.

Irfan Pathan picks his likely final four –

Former Indian player Irfan Pathan took to Twitter to pick his semi-finalists for the 2023 ODI World Cup. The 38-year-old wrote “My Top 4 for this World Cup in India. 1- India, 2- South Africa, 3- England, 4- Australia. What’s yours guys?

The biggest omission was that of Pakistan. Irfan Pathan did not name the Babar Azam-led side for the 2023 ODI World Cup. This did not go down well with a lot of fans who questioned the 38-year-old.

Naming India as the top favourite is understandable considering the two-time champs are playing at home. India will go into the 2023 ODI World Cup as the World Number 1 side in ODI Cricket. Team India hasn’t won a global title for ten years and their last World Cup title came in 2011.

Australia are the most successful side in the history of World Cups. Pat Cummins will be aiming to win his country its sixth World Cup title. The Australians have already won the World Test Championships this year.

South Africa despite their uncertainties is also a very good team in such tournaments. Temba Bavuma could go down in history as the first captain to win the world title. South Africa are yet to win the World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup may just be their chance.

England are the defending champions and have played aggressive ODI cricket in the last 8 years. It was under Eoin Morgan that England won the title for the first time in 2019. According to many experts, England along with India and Australia are the top contenders to win the 2023 ODI World Cup.
