IPL 2024: Top five players Chennai Super Kings could target during IPL Auction 2024

Chennai Super Kings head into IPL Auction 2024 with nearly INR 32 Crores left in the bank. Last Sunday, Chennai Super Kings released Ben Stokes their big ticket signing from the last auction.

Ambati Rayudu and Dwaine Pretorius too were released with the former choosing to hang up his boots. With a sizeable amount left in the purse, Chennai Super Kings head to Dubai to make a few statement purchases.

Shah Rukh Khan –

After spending two seasons with the Punjab Kings, it might be the biggest homecoming moment of IPL Auction 2024. 28-year-old Shah Rukh Khan is a local lad and has a considerable fan following for his big-hitting skills. Ravichandran Ashwin has already hinted that Chennai Super Kings could be looking to buy the talented batter. MS Dhoni would like a power hitter towards the back end of the innings and Shah Rukh Khan fits the bill. 

Pat Cummins –

Australian skipper Pat Cummins will be the biggest outlay for Chennai Super Kings in IPL Auction 2024. The 30-year-old is high on confidence after terrific performances in 2023 where he led his team to two World titles. Pat Cummins could play a huge role in Chennai Super Kings winning their 6^th title if he is picked up by the defending champions.

Harshal Patel –

The 33-year-old medium pacer is a bowler that MS Dhoni would love to have in his team. Harshal Patel was released by RCB last weekend after a miserable 2022 season. Looking to make a comeback to the Indian team, Harshal Patel could prove to be a smart buy during the IPL Auction 2024. His ability to change the pace at will and steady lower-order batting could work as a huge advantage for the Chennai Super Kings. 

Manish Pandey –

The first Indian centurion in the history of the league has seen his IPL career flounder since leaving KKR. The last few years haven’t been going well for Manish Pandey but Chennai Super Kings could give a potential lifeline. IPL 2024 Auction 2024 may do wonders for Manish Pandey just like it did for Ajinkya Rahane if he happens to be picked by CSK.

Mitchell Starc –

Australia’s ace fast bowler will be the biggest catch for most of the teams and one expects Chennai Super Kings to be in the race as well. Mitchell Starc will come for a huge price during the IPL Auction 2024. Chennai Super Kings would love to get their hands on the 33-year-old to solve their death bowling woes in search of a sixth title.
