Mohammed Shami was handed his ticket to get back in the Indian side as Deepak Chahar was sidelined due to injuries to his hip and back. He was earlier slotted in as one of the reserves and then joined the list of those who did not make the 20-20 World Cup 2022 squad due to injuries.

The three-prong pace attack which was led by Arshdeep Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Shami has done a fine job in the 20-20 World Cup so far. Shami was given the responsibility of bowling in the middle overs by Rohit Sharma, and he delivered the goods the case in point being against Pakistan where he picked up the wicket of Ifthikar Ahmed when he was on 51.

The big plus point for Shami is he utilised the wonderful conditions on offer in Australia as he has been using the pitch to good effect and reaping rewards for bowling the hard length. He proved his worth in the Indian T20 League as well by picking up 20 wickets in 16 matches in 2022 for the Gujarat Franchise.

He went on to elaborate on the same, here is what he had to say, "It all depends on preparation, and the team management always tells you to get ready," said Shami after India's win over Bangladesh, who was quoted as saying in Hindustan Times.

It is not easy to switch formats- Mohammed Shami

"As and when the team requires, you will get the call, is what we are always told. If you have seen my videos, I am never out of practice and I always continue with my training," added the India pacer.

"It's not always easy to switch from one format to another red and white balls. It's about how well you are connected with the team and how well you bond with them," Shami spoke about his relationship with the current setup.
"These are things that depends, and secondly, yes, I am playing T20Is after last World T20 and I agree that a player needs confidence and flow more than the colour of the ball. Obviously, you need practice."
