India and Pakistan will clash in the epic 20-20 World Cup on October 23 at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Ahead of the start of the marquee event, the captains met for a press conference on October 15, Saturday and opined on their preparations.
The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who spoke on the playing XI for the Pakistan clash, said that the team sheet is ready and added that he had already informed the players of it. The captain said that he does not believe in last-minute decisions and highlighted getting the players mentally prepared for the high-octane clash.
“I don't believe in last-minute decisions. We want to keep our boys informed about team selection before so that they can prepare early. I already have my XI for the Pakistan match. Already those players are informed. I don't believe in a last-minute thing. I want them to prepare well,” Rohit said in the press conference.
Further, the Indian skipper opined on the importance of the India - Pakistan clash and said that they cannot keep buzzing about it. The right-hand batter added that it might create unwanted pressure on the players. “We understand the importance of India vs Pakistan match but there is no point in talking every time, even when we met during Asia Cup, we keep talking about the families, which cars do you have," said the Indian opener further.
Teams have become fearless: Rohit
The batter added that teams have become fearless and hoped to continue with their new attacking approach in the showpiece event as well. “Teams have become fearless and we're looking to adopt the same approach. 140 used to be a winning total back then but now teams aim to reach there in 14-15 overs,” said the team India captain.
Mohammed Shami replaced injured pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the squad and commenting on the same, Rohit said that he was yet to meet Shami. However, the veteran lauded the pacer who joined the squad recently and said that he will do good in the 20-20 World Cup. “Mohammed Shami I haven't seen but whatever I have heard it is good. We have a practice session in Brisbane on Sunday and I am looking forward to seeing Shami,” Rohit concluded.
