Yashasvi Jaiswal impressed many cricket fans, experts, and former cricketers with his batsmanship against theΒ West Indies in the first Test. The Southpaw displayed a brilliant technique with the bat. Even with many freebies on offer, the youngster did not go behind the ball and stayed true to his defence. The youngster took his time, analyzed the conditions, and played his shots accordingly.
For someone like Jaiswal who is a naturally aggressive batter, adapting to the conditions and playing differently is highly appreciable. The 21-year-old was helped by his captain Rohit Sharma, who was the batting partner in the middle. When Jaiswal survived good deliveries, Sharma went to the youngster, talked to him, and gave some inputs.
Conversation in the middle
As a senior batter and captain, Rohit Sharma did a good job to help the young batter with his experience. As a result, Jaiswal looked more assured in the middle. Talking about the same, Jaiswal revealed his experience of batting in the middle in international cricket alongside Rohit Sharma.
"Rohit Sharma was talking to me throughout the innings and making me understand how to play here. We had good communication, he told me before the game 'You have to do it, you are the guy'. It gave me confidence" said Jaiswal about his conversations with the captain in the middle.
The opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal helped India to gain the advantage in the first Test. The opening pair scored 229 runs for the first wicket. Sharma scored his 10th Test ton, his first ever in the land of Caribbean islands. On the other hand, Jaiswal scored a hundred on international debut.
As Sharma was dismissed by Alick Athaneze, and the new batter Shubman Gill could not stay in the middle for a long time, Jaiswal continued and played his role with Virat Kohli. The two batters have remained in the middle with a partnership of 72 runs. Jaiswal remained unbeaten at the end of the second day after scoring 143 runs in 350 balls.
Here's how the fans reacted to Jaiswal's revelation:

Rohit should have taught himself how to play in WTC. But of course Rohit's genius only comes out against mighty Windies and Sri Lanka.

He looks determined man. Destined to be great. And u could see the grind facing 350 balls. And looks hungry for runs. Should go for a double on debut.

I was thinking when Ganguly and Dravid was batting together on their Debut at Lords, whom they were speaking with coz both were new at International Levels and don't forget England was a superior side at that time. Rohit and Virat should together first bring an ICC Trophy.
