Gautam Gambhir reportedly on his way back to KKR after meeting Shah Rukh Khan

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has been in the news in the past few weeks. The two-time World Cup-winning opener recently made heads turn. Gautam Gambhir posted a picture with Shah Rukh Khan which set the tongues wagging.

After just 24 hours the picture went viral, there is good news for Kolkata Knight Riders fans. Gautam Gambhir who led the side for 7 years could be back in the dugout. This time as a part of the support staff.

The news will fill the two-time champion team with massive happiness. KKR have struggled to win a title since their last success which came in 2014. Gautam Gambhir was the skipper as KKR beat Punjab Kings in the final at Bengaluru.

Gautam Gambhir heading back to the KKR dugout?

Jagran News came up with massive news for the fans of Kolkata Knight Riders. It is reported that Gautam Gambhir is set to make a return to the IPL team as a part of the support staff. The 41-year-old is currently with Lucknow Super Giants as a mentor.

Justin Langer has recently joined the Lucknow team as the head coach. With the arrival of the Australian, there were reports of Gambhir making an exit. As per the Jagran News report, a return to Kolkata was spoken about when Shah Rukh Khan met Gambhir at the former’s residence.

Gautam Gambhir posted the image of the two meeting in Mumbai. This evoked a response from Nitish Rana the KKR skipper for the 2023 season. The left-handed batter wrote, “True Kings in their own fields! Could this be a sign of a homecoming? Just wondering."

The tweet from Nitish Rana set tongues wagging as cricket-crazy fans of Kolkata got excited. Social media was soon abuzz with rumors of Gambhir making his comeback to the dugout.

While it hasn’t been confirmed, if the deal does go through KKR fans may have to wait a while. Gautam Gambhir might not be seen during the IPL 2024 season actively. The reason behind this is that the former Indian star will be busy with the Indian General Elections. Gautam Gambhir is an MP with the current dispensation BJP which is the ruling party.
