Lionel Messi

A lot is Going on in the football world regarding the greats as well. The Argentina Football Association will be planning to retire the jersey of Lionel Messi. This is already creating rumours, where football fans are thinking whether the Argentine great is finally giving up his boots after a great career. Messi has right now achieved everything from winning a lot of silverware with clubs and international trophies as well. This will be in the talks since he is already 36 years old and is in the latter stage of his career.

Messi has had one of the most decorated careers in football history with over 800 goals in club football and over 100 for Argentina. The 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar will still be remembered by every Argentina and Messi fan where not only was he leading the side, but was also the golden ball winner with 7 goals to his name. He is also the first player to win the golden ball twice which also includes the 2014 World Cup, where Argentina were runner-up.

Lionel Messi on his retirement

The thought of retirement might be crossing Messi's mind as well as he has achieved everything he needed to in his long and prosperous career. The people were still asking him if he would still be available for the 2026 World Cup to which he replied “I am not thinking about the World Cup and I am not saying 100 per cent that I will not be there because anything can happen.” This has still kept the people wondering whether he will be involved in the World Cup or not.

Messi further added this time bringing his age into the discussion saying, “Given my age, the most normal thing is that I will not be there. Then we will see to what extent. Maybe we do well in the Copa America and we continue. Maybe not. Being realistic is difficult." This gives us enough clarity that the great footballer is still thinking about Copa America, but is still not 100 per cent sure of his chances at the next World Cup.
