Steve Smith, the legendary Australian batter, is going through a shaky patch despite his century in the recently concluded series against New Zealand. Barring his century in the recent match, the player is struggling to time the ball and is not at his usual best.

However, that doesn’t rule out the fact that the player is one of the best in business at the moment for Australia. In his day, Smith could take on any bowler from any era. Despite the odds, the valiant player has displayed grit to stay in the crease for as long as he can.

During an interactive Q&A session on Instagram, one of his fans asked him an interesting question. The fan asked about the bowler whom Steve Smith would love to face from the past. The Australian veteran quickly replied that he would love to face the West Indies attack from the eighties.

The player took cognizance of the experts’ words and opined that the players were brutal. Steve Smith further added that he would love to compete with them on any given day.

“I would love to face the West Indies bowling attack from the 80s. Everyone said they would be ferocious. It will be good to come up against them,” Steve Smith replied. Reasonably so, the West Indian pace battery from the eighties was brutal and scary.

The pace battery consisting of Andy Roberts, Michael Holding, Joel Garner and Malcolm Marshall threatened every single batter that they came against. Needless to say, the records of the quartet speak for themselves.

Meanwhile, the Australian team will face India for a three-match T20I series. Steve Smith even shared the image of him travelling to India alongside his teammates. The player will look to do well in the T20Is given the 20-20 World Cup 2022 is just around the corner.

The first T20I will be played on September 20 at Mohali cricket stadium. Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis have been rested to recover from their injuries. Daniel Sams, Josh Inglis and Sean Abbott have replaced the trio in the squad.
