Both teams will want to stay on top of their games and win the tournament's championship match as the Pat Cummins-led Australian team prepares to face India in the World Test Championship final. The World Tennis Championship final between India and Australia begins on June 7 at The Oval in London. Nathan Lyon, a seasoned Australian spinner, spoke out to preview the match before it started.

The 35-year-old spoke up to say that the next Ashes series and the WTC final are both crucial events. Following the conclusion of the WTC final, Australia will play England, captained by Ben Stokes, in the much-awaited Ashes series, which is set to start on June 16. Lyon stated that the Australian team is satisfied with their preparations while speaking about the red-ball games.

‘We've got a big game that we're up for’ – Nathan Lyon on the upcoming WTC final and The Ashes 2023

"Yes, we are playing The Ashes, but we've got a big game that we're up for. This is our grand final, and then our season basically starts again. That's probably where we're quite happy with where we're at with our planning. We are able to understand what we've got around the corner and be OK," Nathan Lyon told Sportskeeda.

Additionally, Nathan Lyon repeatedly praised the team's supporters. He is therefore hoping that the same will occur during The Ashes and that the supporters will enthusiastically support the Australian team. In addition, he thinks that fans should disregard the outcomes and the difficulties his team encountered during their tour of India and support Australia for victory in The Ashes regardless of the results or difficulties.

"It's exciting to be part of the final and the fanfare and stuff around it; it's bloody special. I know every Australian fan is looking forward to the Ashes, and so they should be. But they should also be excited about this match. You can wipe off anything that happened in India," he added.

Without question, Nathan Lyon would be one of the key performers for Australia in the WTC final and the Ashes series. It's also important to note that Lyon is now ranked first among players in the WTC for wickets taken. Lyon has 139 wickets to his name in the competition; his efforts may be crucial for Australia.
