India managed to beat the England batters by a massive margin of 434 runs in the 3rd Test at the Saurashtra Cricket Association(SCA) Stadium in Rajkot. There were a lot of great performances in the Test match by Indian batters right from skipper Rohit Sharma’s and Ravindra Jadeja’s centuries in the first innings and Yashasavi Jaiswal’s amazing double century in the second. Everything was going to plan for the Indian player from day 1. The Indians are currently leading 2-1 in the series with two more games to go. The last two games are the ones that will give us the final verdict of this amazing 5-match series.
Even the big heroes of the match were Jaiswal and Jadeja, we cannot forget the hitman’s century which set the tone. Rohit did not have the best games in the first two games of the series, but he showed us in this game why he is one of the best batters India has right now. His partnership along with Jadeja came at a crucial time when England had a grip on the match with the Indians at 33-3. This is another win in the books for Rohit in his successful tenure as India’s skipper and he will be proud of how his team has performed.
Rohit on the big win.
As usual, the 36-year-old India skipper had given his thoughts on the game and what were his plans going forward. There was a time in the Test match when England opener Ben Duckett was playing a brilliant knock going into the second day of the match. Sharma stated, “When you play Test cricket, you do not play it in two or three days. You have to stay in the game for five days. They played good shots and put us under pressure but we have got class in our squad when it comes to bowling.”
The Indian skipper further said that it was important for them to stay calm. What started as a bit of a fightback by the English side on day two failed to continue on the following day. It was only that moment when the Indians were slightly under pressure. Rohit still made sure that after Duckett, there were no big scores from the England batters. We must also not forget that it was a completely flat batting track at the SCA as well, which made it difficult for the bowlers to contain the batters. With two games to go Rohit will be looking to seal the series in Ranchi which will begin on the 23rd of February.
