Rahul Dravid, the head coach of India, discusses the importance of choosing a wicketkeeper-batter who can both bat quickly in the lower order and have fluid glovework behind the stumps. As the T20 World Cup is down the corner, the squad selection has become a topic of discussion. However, Dravid has clarified that the team has a lot of keeping options including Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan.
Post the third match against T20I against Afghanistan, Dravid said, "We've got quite a few keeping options. We saw a couple of guys in this series, whether it is Sanju or Jitesh. You speak about Rahul, there is Ishan, Rishabh... all of them are in the mix. We just have to see how things pan out in the course of the next few months and then we can take a call on what's the best way to go."
Ishan Kishan will be missing out on the England tour and in his place, India has KL Rahul, KL Bharat, and the young Dhruv Jurel. England series is set to begin on January 25, in Hyderabad.
Rishabh Pant to return to IPL
One of the best Indian Premier League 2024 moments will be seeing Rishabh Pant bat after a long time. A year ago, Pant met with an accident and was severely injured. Thus, he couldn’t play cricket for almost a year. Now he is all set to make a comeback in the IPL.
Apart from IPL, Pant is in contention for the T20 World Cup 2024. He is one of the best keeper-batter of India and his presence in the team will make the batting stronger. Not only batting but keeping as well. His presence brings a vibrant energy to the team and to win the World Cup, India needs someone like Rishab Pant.
