The 2nd Test between India and South Africa at the Newlands Cricket ground in Cape Town has started in one of the strangest fashions. It all started with South Africa getting bowled out for just 55 runs, making it their lowest-ever total at this venue. This was already one of the most bizarre and rare moments seeing the Proteas struggling to get going at home and being pegged back by the India bowling attack.

Mohammed Siraj seemed like the star of the game so far with his 6 wickets in the 1st innings, but it looks like the South African bowlers had something else up their sleeves as well when the Indians came to bat.

At one stage, it looked like India would manage to get a solid lead as they were just 153-4 with a set Virat Kohli and KL Rahul at the crease. However, another dramatic event took place as the visitors lost the last 6 wickets without scoring a run. This led to India being all out for a total of just 153 and a lead of 98 runs.

Ravi Shastri’s viral comments on the collapse

Former India player and head coach Ravi Shastri also had his views on the disastrous batting collapse of the India innings. The former cricketer turned commentator made a trolling remark while commentating on the game saying “If someone went around the corner for a dump and has come back, India has been bowled out for 153." This caused a lot of hilarious reactions from the commentators during the game which had suddenly turned on its head with just a blink of an eye.

This might be a harsh statement from Shastri, but in the end, he was still commenting on what he had witnessed in the game. No one could ever have imagined thinking that an excess of 20 wickets could fall in a day with the batting team being all out for 55 in the 1st innings and come back and bowl out the team for 153 runs where the last six wickets fell without troubling the scorers at all. This was an honest and bold statement by Shastri just narrating what he witnessed in the game.

The South Africans came into bat with Aiden Markram going hard at the bowlers straight away. Despite losing 3 wickets, the hosts still ended the day well at 62-3 and reduced the deficit to just 36 runs. This match is still in the balance even after seeing a record of 23 wickets fall in a single day which is currently the weirdest and rare moments in Test cricket.
