I was hurt by the action of Mitchell Marsh with the World Cup Trophy: Shami

When Mohammed Shami saw the photo of Mitchell Marsh placing his feet on the World Cup trophy during the celebration inside the dressing room, he was visibly displeased. Australia's captain, Pat Cummins, shared the picture on his Instagram Stories, and Indian fans were quick to express their discontent, deeming it an insult to the prestigious silverware. Many fans in India found it disappointing to witness such an act, considering the trophy is revered and garlanded.

However, there are those defending Marsh, asserting that disrespecting the World Cup trophy by placing feet on it is an Indian perspective. They argue that in Australian culture, such thoughts do not exist, and Marsh's action symbolized that the world was now at his feet. Amid the varied reactions to Marsh's controversial act, one Indian player from the World Cup squad, Mohammed Shami, expressed his feelings on the incident. Speaking to a group of journalists in India, Shami conveyed that he was hurt to see the trophy treated in such a manner.

β€œI am hurt. The trophy for which all the teams in the world fight, the trophy which you want to lift over your head, keeping a foot on that trophy did not make me happy," said Shami.
