The Allan Border Medal is one of the most prestigious awards in Australian cricket which has always awarded to Australian cricketers since 2000. This prize is named after one of the greatest legends of Australian cricket, none other than Allan Border, who not only has scored more than 15000 runs for his nation in international cricket but also led the team to their first-ever World Cup victory in 1987 as well. There is no doubt that this award will also be given to one of the best cricketers of the season as well who have given some great performances for Australia in the season.
The winner in 2024 for his incredible performances in the previous season was the swashbuckling all-rounder Mitchell Marsh. His performances in both in all the formats were phenomenal. Where in the One-day format he scored 858 runs from 20 matches last season at an average of over 47, 540 runs in Test matches at an average of 67.50 and 186 runs at an average of 186 in T20Is. he has also given some handy spells with the ball as well making him one of the most impactful players for the Aussies last season.
Marsh’s emotional speech
Mitchell Marsh gave a very heartfelt speech after receiving the prize and first thanked his skipper Pat Cummins for supporting him through the tough times. Marsh in the end thanked his family and teammates who have been there with him throughout the season. This speech though had some funny remarks by the 32-year-old cricketer, but we all could also see the emotions in his eyes while speaking as well. Mitchell Marsh has really come alive in the last few years with his performances after struggling for a long time and we hope we get to see even more great performances in the future.

It is good to see Mitchell Marsh finally get his moment in the sun after having a bit of a struggle in his earlier days in the game. Marsh is now looking like the player he was set out to be at the start of his career. It is good to see one of the Marsh brothers finally coming out of the shell and being in a permanent position in the squad which was not even achieved by his elder brother Shaun Marsh as well. This is one of the greatest moments for Marsh and we hope he shows the same consistency in the future as well.
