The SA20 is set to begin on the 10th of January with a lot of high expectations after a successful first season last year. It will be a great beginning to the season’s first game as the defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape will be set to take on the Joburg Super Kings at St George’s Park in Gqeberha. This will be the opening to another anticipated game which will feature two of the most popular batters of South Africa going head to head. The Super Kings might have the edge over them since they have won 2 out of three matches played between two powerful sides, but the Sunrisers did get the better of them in the all-important semi-finals and went on to win the league at the end of last season. This is a good start to the rivalry and the fans will be hoping for a great contest.
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape will come into this tournament as defending champs as they have won the last season. Aiden Markram and his boys will be ready for this season as well. They have some great players in their squad that will be ready for the contest. The likes of Temba Bavuma and Sarel Erwee can surprise people with some great innings to go along with the all-round ability of Marco Jansen and Liam Dawson. They will be an unpredictable team as they showed last season when they scraped through to the playoffs, but still managed to be the inaugural champions.
The Joburg Super Kings had a great start to their season last year with some exceptional performances. Faf Du Plessis and his men will still look for redemption after the heartbreaking loss in the semi-finals against this team. They managed to finish second in the league but failed to lift the trophy after a heartbreaking 14-run loss to the Sunrisers last year. But this time they looked to have a stronger squad with the likes of Reeza Hendricks and Faf Du Plessis at the top, Moeen Ali and David Wiese as the impactful all-rounders in the middle order and a star-studded bowling lineup with Imran Tahir and Gerald Coetzee at the centre.

SUNE vs JSK – Likely pitch conditions
The conditions at St George’s Park have been known to favour the bowlers with uneven bounce for the seamers and some drift and turn for the spinners. It is known to be one of the toughest wickets to bat on in South Africa. With both the teams having quality bowlers in their squad, it looks to be a pitch that might affect a low-scoring game in the long run. However, it can still be a great contest to witness with the likes of Jansen and Coetzee taking advantage of the conditions as much as the spinners in the form of Liam Dawson and Imran Tahir.
