Shoaib Malik, who was recently in the news for his third marriage with Pakistan actress Sana Javed amid divorce from Indian tennis superstar Sania Mirza, is again catching the limelight for bowling suspicious no balls in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Malik, who was playing for Fortune Barishal in the Bangladesh Premier League, has been suspended from the rest of the league over suspicion of match-fixing. It all transpired in the match between Fortune Barishal and Khulna Riders on January 22 when Fortune Barishal was defending a total of 188 against Khulna Riders and Tamim Iqbal gave the ball to Malik because of his experience.

But Malik conceded 18 runs in the over and more surprisingly, bowled 3 no-balls in the over which raised many eyebrows as it is a rare occurrence in cricket. Whoever witnessed it on the field was surprised by what all transpired, including Tamim Iqbal.

After this, Shoaib Malik, who recently marked his third marriage, this time with the renowned Pakistani actor Sana Javed, became a target of online mockery due to his subpar bowling and questionable no-balls.

Following this, Mizanur Rahman, the owner of Fortune Barishal, took a proactive stance and terminated Shoaib Malik's contract over suspicions of fixing. This decision implies that Malik will no longer participate in the league.

Shoaib Malik’s league cricket future in jeopardy

Fortune Barishal has competed in three matches in the tournament, securing victory in one and facing defeat in two. Presently, they find themselves in the second-to-last position on the points table.

Shoaib Malik who featured in three matches in the BPL has now returned to Dubai after the termination of the contract. However, it is a huge blow for Shoaib Malik’s prospects as although he hasn’t retired from International T20s yet he is currently not in the reckoning in Pakistan’s plans in the shortest format of the game and this match-fixing allegation can hamper his future participation in other domestic leagues.
