The Hardik Pandya trade deal between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans is the biggest in terms of official numbers but the buzz it created among fans and cricket fans and analysts has been unmatched. Mumbai Indians' move to bring back Hardik Pandya in their camp after they decided not to retain the latter before the 2021 mega-auctions was in itself a big call that shocked many.

Following it by removing Rohit Sharma from the captaincy position and replacing him with Hardik Pandya led to a social media uproar and put the MI franchise in a negative light among many Rohit Sharma and MI fans.

However, in the past few weeks, the whole Hardik Pandya trade seemed to have died down and wasn’t expected to reignite at least before the 2024 edition of the IPL. But a recent podcast of the MI coach and former South African wicketkeeper Mark Boucher, where he opened up about removing Rohit from MI’s captaincy duties has again resurfaced the debate and has sparked another controversy after Rohit’s wife Ritika Sajded discredited the reasons given by Mark Boucher on the removal of Rohit Sharma as captain of MI.

It all reignited after Mark Boucher in a podcast with SmashSports said, “I think it was purely a cricketing decision. We saw the window period to get Hardik back as a player. For me, it's a transition phase. A lot of people don't understand in India, people get quite emotional, but you know you take the emotions away from it. I think it's just more of a cricketing decision that was made and I do think it is going to bring the best out of Rohit as a person as a player. Just let him go out and enjoy and score some good runs."

Ritika Sajdeh commented on the post saying, “So many things wrong with this…”. It has again opened a Pandora's box of speculations regarding what would have transpired between Rohit Sharma and the Mumbai Indians management, how would Rohit Sharma have reacted to this news, and whether he wants to continue to associate himself with MI or not. Although Rohit Sharma has not officially commented anything on this whole matter as the date for the first match of this year’s edition of the IPL comes closer, things will start getting clearer.
