David Warner is all set to become a commentator for the Test series between India and Australia in 2024/25. The star batter is currently playing the last Test match of his career. The Australian opener announced his retirement from thr format months ago when he was playing the BGT 2023 in India. He realized that his form was not good in test cricket for some months.

With him ageing quickly, Warner decided to set the summer of 2024 as his last series in Tests. In the ongoing Test series against Pakistan, Warner has been batting well despite the criticism on him getting a chance to set his retirement Test. In the first Test at Perth, Warner scored a hundred and gave a reply to those who questioned his spot in the Australian team.

Famously, Mitchell Johnson has openly criticised the move from Warner to set the retirement date in Test cricket. Warner is currently playing his last Test match against Pakistan. In the first innings, the star opener scored 39 runs which included some fluent strokes. After he was dismissed, the play was stopped due to the interruption of rain. The third day will see the continuation of the Test match.

Retirement from ODI cricket

Recently, Warner happened to retire from ODIs as well. Warner informed the world about his retirement from ODIs. The star batter was of the opinion that he was done in both the longer formats of the game. After a successful campign in the 2023 ODI World Cup where Australia were crowned the champions, Warner decided to retire from ODIs as well.

It would be a perfect way to retire from ODIs, given he won the World Cup. The 37-year-old is likely to spend rest of his career playing for T20 teams across different parts of the world. If necessary, Warner has decided to be available for the Champions Trophy 2025. Warner might be right in choosing commentary as his next option in cricket along with playing in the shortest format of the game.
