The Australian Team has so far enjoyed a great season and achieved a lot of success in their journey. With winning two major trophies this season that include the World Test Championship(WTC) and ODI World Cup they are still the side with the most number of international trophies. Through this modern era as well we have seen some great Aussie players who have performed consistently for their team. There is one player Australia will miss since after announcing his retirement from Test Cricket, he has decided to quit the 50-over format as well.

David Warner has had a great ODI career as well with over 6500 runs at an average of above 45. His career includes some big runs where he has scored 22 centuries and 33 half-centuries. The attacking nature of his game made him one of the most dangerous batters in the world in all formats whether it is Tests, T20Is or ODIs. with 49 International centuries to his name, he has the most 100+ scores for Australia after Ricky Ponting in international cricket and it will be a challenge for the selectors and management to find a perfect replacement for him.

Warner keeps 2025 Champions Trophy hopes alive

Warner might not be present for the 3-match ODI series against the West Indies, but he has still kept some hopes of playing the Champions Trophy which will be played next year. Other than that the powerful Southpaw from New South Wales will hundred per cent be available for the T20 World Cup this year at West Indies and the United States of America. Warner has given some great performances throughout his career and has even given great performances in Australia’s World Cup triumphs in 2015 and 2023 where he was one of the top scorers.

Warner had also mentioned in interviews that winning the World Cup was already a massive achievement and further suggested his retirement in the press conference saying “ I'm definitely retiring from one-day cricket as well. That was something that I had said through the World Cup, get through that, and winning it in India, I think that's a massive achievement." This tells us that Warner has decided that he has achieved enough in the game and has decided that he will finally say his final goodbyes in the two big formats of the game.
