The Mumbai Indians have lost their first game this season in the Women's Premier League(WPL) 2024. This was their first game without Harmanpreet Kaur which has led to Nat Sciver-Brunt leading the side. The UP Warriorz as usual won the toss and chose to bowl. This was the first game the Mumbai Indians were completely outplayed as they managed a score of 161 in the first innings even after a great half-century by Hayley Matthews.

The UP Warriorz still had to score those runs and they did it in style. It was the openers Alyssa Healey and Kiran Navgire who started the onslaught putting on 94 for the first wicket. From there the game was finally put to rest with Grace Harris and Deepti Sharma finishing the game off and helping the team put their first two points on the board winning the game by 7 wickets. This was a great comeback from the Warriorz after losing their first two games on the trot. It will give them more confidence going forward in the competition.

Kiran Navgire shines

Tonight was the night when Kiran Navgire finally gave a great performance. The explosive batter from Maharashtra was promoted up the order with the skipper and played a great knock. Her 57 runs from 31 deliveries which included 6 fours and 4 sixes. This was the innings that set the tone completely for the Warriorz. Navgire’s innings had some powerful hits where she took advantage of every loose ball she got. This was a classic T20 knock filled with a lot of big hits.

The UP Warriorz will be happy to finally get their first win after two disappointing results. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians will want to come back from this game where their performance was underwhelming.  They might be missing some in-form senior players in Kaur and Shabnim Ismail, but it still looked like a team with a lot of depth and talent. This was once again a game where the team chasing was victorious once again. This might be a one-sided game, but it has made the points table interesting once again.
