Delhi Capitals have given a sound thrashing to the UP Warriorz in their Women's Premier League Clash today at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Having won the toss, the Capitals, led by Meg Lanning opted to bowl first and the bowlers completely validated her decision. They restricted the Warriorz to just 119 in their 20 overs. Marizanne Kapp and Radha Yadav were the stars of the show, claiming 8 wickets as a pair. Kapp in particular was magnificent, as she returned exceptional figures of 3-5 from her four overs. She destroyed the Warriorz's top order, removing the likes of Alyssa Healy, Vrinda Dinesh, and Tahlia McGrath. Shweta Sehrawat' 45 helped the Warriorz post a respectable total but that was never going to be enough.

In response, the Capitals made light work of the chase as the openers, Lanning and Shafali Verma shared an entertaining stand worth 119 runs. Verma was the aggressor as she smashed an unbeaten 64 off just 43 deliveries with the help of four huge sixes. The Warriorz could only pick up one wicket, that of Lanning who scored 51 off 43 balls.

Speaking to the broadcaster, JioCinema after the game, Lanning was lavish in her praise of Kapp and Verma. Speaking on Shafali's knock, she said that she enjoyed watching it from close quarters. "Was nice to watch Shafali bat from the other end. Nice to watch her smashing sixes from the other end. It's more about keeping it simple, it's about encouraging her to play to her strengths," she said.

Delhi off the mark, UP in trouble

The win has helped the Delhi Capitals get off the mark in this year's tournament after having lost their opening game against defending champions Mumbai Indians. They will now be looking to maintain the momentum to produce a good season. UP Warriorz on the other hand, have lost their second consecutive game and are reeling at the bottom of the table. Having made the play-offs last season, they haven't got off to a good start this time around and hence, there is a lot of work to be done.

Here's a look at how fans reacted to the Capitals' emphatic victory:
