The role of leading any sports team is a big responsibility for any player who is appointed especially in cricket. There have been a lot of great captains in Indian cricket who are responsible for a lot of great moments in the game. Right from Kapil Dev to Rohit Sharma there have been a lot of iconic leaders for Team India. The rich history of Indian cricket has seen a lot of successful and unsuccessful skippers in the game. However, the leaders who have made a mark in the game are still remembered for their contribution to the game. With great power comes great responsibility was the motto of some of these great leaders.
One of these leaders is Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was not only known for his match-winning sixes and wicketkeeping but also for his role as a skipper for both franchise and country. There is hardly any trophy which Dhoni hasn’t won right from World Cups to Indian Premier League (IPL) titles there is nothing that the man from Jharkhand has not got his hands on. He is one of the most decorated players in Indian cricket and has been a part of some memorable games for both franchise and country.
Legal action was taken by Captain Cool
Dhoni had filed a case against two of his former business partners Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwash who owned a sports management firm called Aarka Sports and signed an agreement to build a Global Cricket academy. However, they failed to fulfil the agreement and were forced to pay a franchise fee and some of their profits and shares. Despite this, the conditions were still ignored and the former India skipper decided to issue some legal notices against them.
This has led Dhoni who is represented by Dayanand Singh of Vidhi associates to take legal action against the company alleging them of cheating them and causing a loss of 15 cr. This is a serious decision taken by Dhoni who is normally known for his calm nature. This however is a sign that the 2011 World champion cannot be messed with in matters on the field and off the field. Dhoni will be featured in the upcoming IPL in 2024 and the staff and management have ensured that these legal issues won’t hurt his chances of playing the tournament.
