The Indian team are right now in the mood of celebration after a great series win against England. Indians are currently leading the series 3-1 with just one game to go. There have been a lot of great performances by the Indian players, especially from the youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan. This was the Indian team's 17th consecutive home series victory in Test cricket and they have officially achieved the best streak in the longest format. With still some more Test series left to go, it will be interesting to see how this Indian team performs in the future.
Even though there were a lot of great performances from the senior and junior players, the Indian team would still be missing the presence of Mohammed Shami. Shami has been one of their best pacers across all formats with his brilliant seam bowling. Shami has already taken above 400 wickets in international cricket and was the leading wicket-taker in the 2023 World Cup. Unfortunately, the 33-year-old pacer had to miss out on a few series due to an injury he attained in the World Cup final.
Shami undergoes surgery
Shami was supposed to return to the game for the two Test series against England and South Africa expecting a full and early recovery. The star pacer, however, was set to get his surgery in the United Kingdom. This has led to Shami officially missing out on the upcoming Indian Premier League(IPL)2024. The good news is he has had a successful surgery and has posted on social media saying, “Just had a successful heel operation on my Achilles tendon. Recovery is going to take some time but looking forward to getting back on my feet."
By this, it seems like we might be missing the services of Shami for a long time in the cricketing scene. It is still great to see that he still has an optimistic mindset on his recovery. The fans will want him to be fit enough to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 for India. Shami will always be one of the best fast bowlers India has produced in the modern era, who has a decent pace and the ability to move the ball both ways. We cannot wait to see the star pacer get back into action and give some great match-winning spells.
