The Indian Premier League(IPL) 2024 is about to begin on 22nd March 2024 at Chepauk. It is set to begin with one of the biggest rivalries in the league. The Chennai Super Kings(CSK) will be taking on the Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB). People are expecting a full-blow rivalry featuring MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. There have been some great matches between these two sides, which have kept the fans on their feet.
Virat Kohli's comeback has been the major talking point among the fans. Kohli has not only been a star in international cricket but in the IPL as well. Virat is still the highest run-getter in the league and he has given some great performances for the men in red since 2008. However, the Indian run-machine has been out of cricket for a long time and there are already speculations going around the former India and RCB skipper.
Gavaskar on Kohli
India's former legend Sunil Gavaskar has also given his views on Virat and his chances of playing in the tournament. The little master has stated, “ Kya woh khelenge... kuch reason ke liye khel nahin rahe hain, shaayad ho sakta hai ke IPL ke liye bhi na khele (Will he play... He is not playing because of some reason, perhaps he may not play in IPL as well)." These words have caused a lot of speculation to go around all over social media.
Virat has barely missed a game for the men in red and he will most likely be present in the league. Virat’s absence in the IPL can cause a lot of problems in the Bangalore franchise since he is one of their key players on the side. Kohli has been missing a lot of games after the ODI World Cup, but there was a valid reason for those breaks. These are finally just speculations and rumours and the India legend will most likely feature in the tournament.
