Mayank Agarwal, the captain of the Karnataka Ranji Trophy team, faced a harrowing experience during a flight. Reports suggest that he complained of a burning sensation in his mouth and throat, leading to immediate hospitalization and admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The incident occurred while the team was en route to Agartala for the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy competition.

The cricketer's discomfort was evident which led to the cricketer being admitted to ILS hospital in Tripura. The hospital management, however, remained tight-lipped about his health status. Despite initial ambiguity, Agarwal is reported to be in stable condition.

Blood tests were conducted after he experienced vomiting and uneasiness, subsequently ruling him out from the upcoming Ranji match. Fortunately, Mayank Agarwal is believed to be out of danger, bringing relief to fans and teammates alike. The cricketing community awaits further updates on his recovery while wishing him a speedy return to the field.

Mayank Agarwal’s recent form in the Ranji Trophy

Prior to the health scare, Agarwal exhibited exemplary leadership by steering Karnataka to a 29-run victory over Tripura in the Ranji Trophy contest. The match, held at the Maharaj Bir Bikram Stadium in Agartala, showcased Agarwal's prowess both as a captain and a batter.

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, Agarwal has been in sublime form, amassing an impressive 460 runs in four matches at an average of 44.28. His outstanding performance includes two centuries, solidifying his status as a key player for Karnataka. Under his leadership, Karnataka is placed at the 2nd spot in Group C.  

At the beginning of this season, Agarwal stood out as the top run-scorer in the 2023 Ranji Trophy, amassing 990 runs in nine matches, including three centuries and six half-centuries. Recognizing his outstanding performance, Agarwal was honoured with the Madhavrao Scindia Award during the recent Indian Cricket Board awards ceremony in Hyderabad.
