Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The Ranji Trophy is back with some great performances from young and experienced players in the tournament. With all these states competing with each other, the tournament does not only give us some young talent for the future but also allows some players to make a comeback. It is good to see these senior players who are still trying to come back even after being away from the game for a long time. We have already seen Cheteshwar Pujara score a wonderful double-hundred for Saurashtra, but now there is another player who has come back onto the radar after a long break. He is none other than Indian specialist swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Bhuvneshwar at one point was one of the first-choice bowlers for the national side, who was known for his ability to swing the ball both ways and set up batters. With 294 wickets in international cricket and being part of the previous T20 World Cup and 2019 ODI World Cup, unfortunately for the 33 yr old pacer, he has not been in the Indian side for a long time due to injuries halting the progression of his career. There was a time when he along With Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were one of the best pace trio in the world as well.

Amazing comeback in the Ranji Trophy

In a Ranji trophy match between Uttar Pradesh and Bengal at the Green Park in Kanpur, the boys from UP were surprised by Bengal as they got all out for 60 in the first innings. However, the UP team had a surprise of their own in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who bowled one of the best spells in Ranji Trophy history taking 8/41 in 22 overs which included 5 maidens and a fantastic economy of just 1.90. Bhuvneshwar looked at his best throughout this game, beating the bat and knocking over the stumps every time he came onto the bowl.  This resulted in Bengal being all out for 188 and still having a chance in the game despite the terrible start.

This will still be a game that could decide the future of Bhuvneshwar on the national side as well. These performances can increase the chances of him making it back into the Indian side after a long break. This shows that Bhuvneshwar still can perform at his best. With his tremendous skill and ability, it will be no surprise if the star pacer comes back into the mix and proves everyone wrong once again. We hope that Bhuvneshwar can display the same performances in the bigger games as well and come back into the mix with the selectors in the future.
