The Indian Cricket team are currently at the top in the T20I rankings and have been giving great performances ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 as well. The number of talented individuals in the Indian set-up has made them a superpower in the international scene already. The talent of Surya Kumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been the best batters for the team in the shortest format. However, the last time India won the T20 World Cup was way back in  2007 in South Africa and the last time they reached the final was in 2014. This will be the moment when the Men in Blue will want to break the trophy drought which they have been facing for more than a decade.

The T20 World Cup will be played in the West Indies and the United States of America and there will  feature 20 teams in the tournament. The Indian squad has not yet been announced, but looking at the number of talented players in the ranks and the recent performances we can surely expect it to be a competitive team in the upcoming tournament. There are already plans being made regarding this tournament and what the selectors and board are planning to finally get their hands on their second T20 World Cup trophy.

Zimbabwe tour announced after World Cup

We do not know the Indian plans for the World Cup, but we have got a glimpse of what they are planning after that. The Indians are set to play a 5 match T20I series in Zimbabwe after the completion of the T20 World Cup.  The last time India faced Zimbabwe was in the T20 World Cup 2 years ago where the men in blue came out on top with a 71-run victory. The last time these two teams faced each other in a bilateral series was in 2016. This will also be great for the Zimbabwe team which has been struggling as a cricket team in recent times.

Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah has given his reasons behind planning this series not only to rebuild the bilateral scenario but also to give their support to the Zimbabwe team. This seems to be a series that has been planned to get the bilateral series back into the frame again. This will also be a great opportunity for Zimbabwe Cricket who will want to showcase their own set of talented players on the big stage as well. The likes of Sean Williams and Sikander Raza have been a part of some great matches, but have not been able to get their team to be one of the top 10 ranking teams and regain their Test team status. This will be a moment Zimbabwe cricket will want to perform against one of the best teams in the world right now.
