The directives made by the Indian Cricket Board have been a big story in the media right now. It was made clear to every established player in the Indian team to play domestic cricket if they are not part of the squad. This ultimatum has led to many players featuring in the Ranji Trophy and trying to make a comeback. The only players who have not followed this directive are Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan.

Both Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were the upcoming players in the Indian set-up. The two talented batters played some great innings in white ball cricket and had a decent start to the red ball format as well. However, the two refused to feature in the Ranji Trophy which has led to both of them losing their annual contracts. This is really a terrible moment for the two young players, who were established in the team for their great performances in white ball cricket.

Ravi Shastri’s encouragement

India's former head coach Ravi Shastri shared his insights on the matter as well. The 1983 World Cup winner went on social media and gave a clear message to both the players stating “ In the game of cricket, comebacks define the spirit. Chin-up, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan Dig deep, face challenges, and come back even stronger. Your past achievements speak volumes, and I have no doubt you'll conquer once again." This was an encouraging message given by the former coach, who has worked with them in the past as well.

The fact that we might be missing the services of two very talented players can make a big difference. The message by Shastri should encourage them to work harder and get their spot back on the team. They will be featuring in the upcoming Indian Premier League(IPL) season and will have to give some great performances. Iyer will be leading Kolkata Knight Riders and Kishan will be playing for the Mumbai Indians. Their performance in this tournament can influence the board to look at them one more time.
