The 3rd Test of the India vs England Test series will begin on the 15th of February in Rajkot at the Saurashtra Cricket Association(SCA) Stadium. The series is currently levelled at 1-1 with The England team winning in Hyderabad and India coming back in the Vizag Test. The squad for the final three Tests has already been announced with some new names as well. Indian fans will be happy to hear that Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul are fit and are featuring in the squad as well. However, the injury to Shreyas Iyer might force them to make another change in the playing squad for the upcoming series.
Even though the comeback of Jadeja and Rahul will be a big asset to the side, the absence of Virat Kohli will still not be pleasing to the fans. Virat missed the first two matches due to personal reasons and that had already disappointed the fans. The news of him missing the whole series is a complete shock to everyone. It is not normal to see the King miss a really big series against a team in which he has played some great innings in the past. It will be tough for everyone to see a 5 match Test series which does not feature Virat Kohli.
Aakash Chopra shows his displeasure
India's former cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has given his views on this issue as well on his YouTube channel saying “Forget about two matches, Virat Kohli isn’t available for the entire series”. Aakash was clearly disappointed in this statement and also mentioned that it would have been another clash between Virat and James Anderson which is one of the best matchups in the game. Chopra also went on to say that this is one of the rare instances where the former India skipper has missed an entire series like this.
It is really disappointing for the fans who were looking forward to seeing Kohli on the big stage and perform against this competitive England side. This will surely be a series where we will not see Virat Kohli and his elegant stroke play and match-winning innings. However, this will still be a series to watch out for and has been set up beautifully. We might not get to see Virat stamp his authority once again, but we are still up for another interesting series where both sides will still be in the game. The Indians will be ready for the challenge no matter what and that is more important.
