Former India cricketer applauds Indian Cricket Board for taking stand for players who have hunger for Test Cricket

The Indian Cricket Board recently announced the annual contracts for the players. Some players have deservingly got a grade-A contract due to their brilliant performances. While some stars like Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara have been left out, the young talents of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have rightfully deserved it for their consistency in the game.

Meanwhile, there have been some players who have not followed the directives of the board. Players like Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer are among those players. The players were to follow the directive of the board to play domestic first-class cricket. However, due to ignoring it completely, they have missed out on their contracts despite their great performances in the past. Sanjay Manjrekar applauds the decision

There might be some people who do not agree with this decision, but is clear that it isn’t the case with former India cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar. Manjrekar openly applauded the decision posting on social media saying, “Well done to Indian Cricket Board for rewarding players who want to play the tough cricket and only for one reason...to face the 'acid test' as cricketers."

Some of us might think this is harsh action taken by the board. However, we cannot completely ignore the effectiveness of this decision. This might affect the careers of some talented cricketers, but it will also build the hunger for the game and increase the competition.

Players like Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel wouldn’t have been noticed if it wasn’t for this directive by the board. If experienced individuals like Sanjay applaud this plan, then it might it might have some effectiveness to it.
