Rohit scored the hundred when India was in a miserable situation at one point in the match.

India won the toss and elected to bat first. Afghanistan bowlers were on fire early in the innings. The visiting side soon had India to 22/4 in no time. Fareed Ahmad bowled very well with the new ball and tamed the Indian batters for fun. Yashasvi Jaiswal perished for just 4 runs. Virat Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck by Fareed.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium witnessed a pin drop silence with that. If it was not enough, Shivam Dube was dismissed for a solitary run, who was dismissed by Azmatullah Omarzai. At the same time, Sanju Samson was dismissed for a golden duck. It was the worst possible situation India could have got themselves into. At that point, India needed stability in the middle.
