CSK and KKR likely to go after Sarfaraz Khan for upcoming IPL 2024

The Indian Premier League(IPL) 2024 auction saw some major changes in each of the 10 teams. There have been records broken already with two players breaking the 20 cr barrier. The auction has always been about putting money on the best players in the tournament.

However, there were some instances where the players did not manage to get the buyers on their side. Some big players in the auction went unsold, and more or less have a very minimal chance of featuring in the upcoming season.

Indian wicketkeeper batter Sarfaraz Khan was one of those players who came in that category. Sarfaraz had come into the limelight when he made his debut at the age of 16 in the 2015 season. Sarfaraz has represented three teams in the IPL and played last season for the Delhi Capitals. Sarfaraz has not had the same consistency as in the domestic circuit he is still averaging 22.5 in the 50 games he has played. This resulted in the Capitals releasing him.

CSK and KKR to go after Sarfaraz

Even after being unsold at the auction, there still might be a chance for Sarfaraz in the IPL. The teams who are most likely going to target him as an extra addition are the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR). This might be after seeing the 26-year-old showcase his talent in the 3rd Test of the India vs England series where he scored two wonderful half-centuries on his Test debut.

We all know that Sarfaraz is a talented prospect in the Indian setup. We all will want to see him come back into the league with some great performances as well. The only point is which side he will be a perfect fit for. The KKR would want to take him since they might need another top-order batter in their team and the Super Kings will want him as the perfect replacement for Ambati Rayudu in the middle order. It will be a tough decision for the young star going forward as well.
