Just before the Indian Premier League(IPL) 2024 auction, there was a lot of negativity surrounding the Mumbai Indians(MI) with a lot of fans unfollowing the 5 time champions on social media. The decision to replace Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya just after being traded from the Gujarat Giants had already led to a lot of problems even after Hardik’s statements before coming back into the side. Fans did not take well to this news especially after very expressive and sad posts from Jasprit Bumrah and Surya Kumar Yadav. With this there have been a lot of rumours surrounding the franchise regarding them almost giving up on some big players in the side.

One of the major rumours were that Mumbai Indians were involved with the trading of some of their key players with none other than arch rivals Chennai super Kings(CSK). The players who were mentioned were Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav themselves. These two players are one of the big names in the MI franchise right now and it didn’t go well with the fans when the talks of them almost leaving the franchise was also spreading. The sad posts on social media also had a lot of speculations as well where there were still a lot of talks behind these issues.

The CSK franchise had something else to say about these rumours and CEO of their franchise Kasi Vishwanath crushed them while speaking to Cricbuzz saying “We don't trade players as a principle and we also don't have players to trade with Mumbai Indians. We have not approached them and we don't intend to either". With this Vishwanath made it clear that the franchise were not involved in any trade and they will neither be involved in the future as well as it is their number 1 principle.

There will always be rumours surrounding the teams who are very popular among the cricket fans, especially when they are playing in one of the best T20 leagues in the world with a huge fanbase. All of this has gone on for a long time and has not seemed to die down. The CSK have again displayed their fair principles, but there is still negative reception still surrounding MI which they have to deal with in the future as well. Lets hope they shut these rumours with great performances in the upcoming tournaments.
