Amid match-fixing allegation in BPL, Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik refutes claim as ‘False’ via social media

Shoaib Malik has been the flavour of media for the past few days. First, he came into the limelight when he announced his remarriage to Pakistani actress Sana Javed amid divorce rumours with Indian tennis star and 13-years-long wife Sania Mirza. 

Shoaib Malik received flak online for marrying for the third time and posting it on social media as the news of his wasn’t official yet. According to some reports, he was even accused of cheating on Sania Mirza with his alleged three-year-long girlfriend turned wife Sana Javed.

But only days after the marriage news broke out, Malik again garnered limelight when he was seen bowling 3 no-balls in an over in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). It was also reported in the news that Shoaib Malik’s contract with the Fortune Barishal in BPL has been terminated on the suspicion of match-fixing after the Pakistan veteran returned to Dubai mid-way during the BPL.

Shoaib Malik breaks silence on match-fixing allegations

But soon after, the match-fixing allegations broke out, Shoaib Malik took to X formerly Twitter to issue an official statement regarding the whole situation. Shoaib Malik posted a video of Fortune Barishal’s owner where he denied terminating Shoaib Malik’s contract with their franchise. Instead, the owner was seen praising Malik in the video and even said that he would play for the franchise if possible.

Shoaib Malik further clarified the whole situation by rubbishing the match-fixing allegations and said that his Dubai visit was preplanned and there was no rift between him and the franchise which led to the termination of his contract.

Shoaib Malik wrote on X, "I would like to address and dismiss the recent rumours circulating about my playing position with Fortune Barishal. I had a thorough discussion with our captain, Tamim Iqbal, and we mutually planned the way forward. I had to leave Bangladesh for a pre-committed media engagement in Dubai." 

He further said, "I extend my best wishes to Fortune Barishal for their upcoming matches, and if needed, I am available to support them if needs be. I have always found joy in playing the game and will continue to do so.

"I want to emphasize the importance of exercising caution when it comes to rumours, especially those circulating recently. I want to make it clear that I strongly refute these baseless rumours. Everyone must verify the information before believing and spreading it.
