Cameron Green opened the innings for Australia against India in the three-match T20I series. Much to the delight of Australian fans, the all-rounder outclassed with the bat upfront and provided the Baggy Greens with a stunning start. The youngster looked in fine touch and understandably, the Indian bowlers looked clueless.
In the entire series, Cameron Green scored as many as 118 runs at an average of 39.33. If one wants to judge the player based on the average, one might conclude that he had a decent series. However, the star cricketer played at a strike rate of 214.54 and this shows the impact that he had on India’s bowling attack. Albeit he averages only around the thirties, his strike rate has what made him stand out among the rest.
The Indian bowlers were clueless and struggled to come up with a perfect ball for the 23-year-old. Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh, the all-rounder, has heaped praise on the upcoming star and called Green ‘a superstar’.
“People from the outside might be surprised but no one's surprised internally. He's a super talent. He was given a role to go out and be really aggressive. Most importantly for me, it's the unselfishness he's got incredible skill, but for a young guy who hasn't got a cemented spot in that team to play fearless cricket, that shows more about him than his actual skill,” cricket.com.au quoted Mitchell Marsh as saying.
It's just the start of Cameron Green’s T20 career: Mitchell Marsh
Further, Mitchell Marsh said that the upcoming star will earn a lot of money. He feels that the player will do well for Australia and added that leaving him out of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 proves the Baggy Greens’ strength.
“It's just the start of his T20 career. The amount of money he's going to earn over the next 10 years, I'm going to be looking for a couple of free feeds,” Mitchell Marsh added. “To have someone like him not in your team, it shows how good we are. We're the defending world champions for a reason,” he said.
Cameron Green is not a part of Australia’s squad for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup 2022. But the youngster has age under his belt and he will not be worried about missing out on the squad. However, the 23-year-old is in the scheme of things for future major tournaments. Cameron Green might as well become a legend in the next decade and make a big name for himself.
